At Jalayimiya Swim, sustainability is woven into the very fabric of everything we do. From the materials we use to the ethical production processes that bring our bold designs to life, every decision is a reflection of our dedication to protecting the planet and celebrating cultural heritage.
A Journey to Sustainability
Our founder, Brodie George, has long been committed to living an eco-conscious life. In 2019, after the birth of her son, Brodie embraced a low-tox household, using only natural, cruelty-free, vegan, and non-toxic Australian-made cosmetic products. This personal transformation inspired her professional journey. Drawing on her knowledge of aromatherapy and natural skincare formulation—gained under the guidance of Joanne Lang—Brodie began handcrafting her own products, incorporating native flora from her Walmajarri heritage in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia. This deep connection to nature and cultural roots continues to influence the way we approach design and production at Jalayimiya Swim.
Eco-Friendly Materials: A Bold and Sustainable Statement
Our swimwear is designed with sustainability at its core. We only use eco-friendly materials like recycled nylon and polyester, which reduce the environmental impact of textile production. These fabrics are not only durable and long-lasting but also help divert waste from landfills and oceans, making them the perfect choice for our bold, timeless swimwear styles.
Our decision to focus on eco-friendly materials stems from a desire to minimise our footprint while providing high-quality products that align with our customers’ values. Each piece in our collection is crafted to offer comfort, support, and versatility while ensuring that sustainability is never compromised.
Ethical Production: Supporting a Fairer Future
At Jalayimiya Swim, ethical production is more than a buzzword—it’s a core value. We collaborate with manufacturers who share our commitment to fair wages, safe working conditions, and responsible practices. By choosing to work with these ethical partners, we support communities and craftspeople who contribute to the fashion industry with integrity.
Furthermore, Brodie continues to share her knowledge and passion for sustainability beyond the brand. Through her Instagram, she provides tutorials on creating eco-friendly household cleaning products, empowering others to adopt sustainable practices in their everyday lives.
Why It Matters
Sustainability isn’t just a trend for Jalayimiya Swim—it’s a way of life. We believe that by making conscious choices about the materials we use and the way we produce our swimwear, we can contribute to a healthier planet and a fairer fashion industry. By staying true to our values of eco-consciousness, ethical production, and cultural storytelling, we offer our customers a chance to make thoughtful fashion choices that reflect their values.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable swimwear. Whether through the use of new materials, innovative designs, or collaborations with like-minded partners, we are excited to continue our journey towards a more sustainable and ethical future.
